While many people go to the doctor for their ringworm treatments, you will find that there are other options available. If you don’t have a regular doctor, if you don’t have insurance or if you know that you won’t have the money to pay for expensive prescription medication then you might want to try an unconventional treatment. Many people believe the natural home treatments can work just as well as the medicine if they are done properly.
One popular and unconventional treatment is to use baking soda on the area. Mix a bit of water into the baking soda until you have a paste-like mixture. You will then take this mixture and spread it onto the area with the ringworm. Leave this on until the paste dries and begins to flake off, and then you can remove the paste. You will want to do this several times each day until you notice that the infection is gone.
One of the other ringworm treatments that have gained attention is the use of nail polish. You will apply the polish on the area of your skin with the ringworm and let it dry. This should help to kill the fungus because it needs oxygen to survive.
Of course, both of these ringworm treatments depend on several things to work. You need to know if they are going to work on the location – you won’t be able to put nail polish on your scalp, for example. You will also want to know the type and severity of the ringworm. If none of the home treatments work, you will be able to try some of the medications at your local pharmacy. These cost a bit more than the home treatments, but you might find that they just work better for you.
